Press Release Marketing Tips


When it comes to getting media exposure for a chiropractic practice, most chiropractors never think of their practice as being noteworthy of news coverage. Although distributing a press release and getting media exposure is one low cost, highly effective marketing strategy many, chiropractors don't know how to take advantage of this form or marketing.

What is press release marketing? It involves the distribution of information that is newsworthy enough for media outlets to publish and/or cover the story.

What could be topics for chiropractic practice press releases. Some examples of topics and some sample wording follows:

- Chiropractor offers free back treatments for old age home inhabitants as a gift to the aged
- (chiropractor name), local chiropractor, just announced a free program being offered to inhabitants of the (name of old aged home) to help elderly inhabitants live healthier lives and reduce back pains associated with growing older for many. "Consider it a gift to the local community as a thank you for helping our practice grow", commented (name of chiropractor) ________, local chiropractor...

- Chiropractor sponsors walk for (charity name)- As part of its commitment to better health in the community and to help (charity name),(chiropractor name) ....
- Chiropractor sponsors local sports team- (Chiropractor name) just announced he is sponsoring local sports team (name of team). "Sport is a big part of staying healthy," commented (chiropractor name). "That's why we are sponsoring (team name) and are encouraging others to exercise.....
- Chiropractor announces local radio show to educate others about how to care for their bones- (Radio station name) just announced a new radio program called Chiropractic Corner featuring (chiropractor name). "It is part of our commitment to improve the health of the community," commented (chiropractor name)
- New chiropractic office opens
- Chiropractic practice has open house
- Dr. (chiropractor name) introduces new procedure to treat back pain

How do you decide how to send your news to the press? Some examples of media contacts to include in your press release distribution:

- Local and community newspapers
- Local and regional magazines
- Local radio stations
- Local television stations
- Shopping papers such as Pennysaver who publish articles

You should also include free Internet sites that accept releases.

In what format should a press release be written? The standard format includes the following sections:

- "For Immediate Release"
- Compelling headline
- For additional information - include contact name, company name, telephone number, and email address
- Begin article with your city and state

To get the most mileage from your news item, you should also consider mailing copies to your patients and leaving copies in your waiting room. If you have a web site, a page should be dedicated to press releases and each release should be posted on the site.

This type of marketing can be one additional marketing approach to gain additional exposure for your company. If used correctly, local media can become one your best publicity partners.
