What do you do after your doctor tells you that it's unlikely that you will ever conceive naturally? Adopt? Go through the costly and often unsuccessful IVF route? Give up on the idea of having a family?

In one study published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research (JVSR), Dr Behrendt found that 14 out of 15 women who were infertile became pregnant after 2 - 20 months of Chiropractic care. One of the women was told by fertility experts that she had only a 5% chance of conceiving even with fertility drugs and invasive procedures. She had no periods for twelve years. After two months of chiropractic care, her periods returned. Four months later, she was pregnant. Her medical doctor said it was "impossible" that she was pregnant. Obviously, her pregnancy was not "impossible." In the same study, only one woman did not become pregnant - she was 65 years old and did not want to become pregnant. The other fourteen had been through various fertility treatments that failed, but chiropractic made a difference.
The studies concerning infertility and chiropractic care are so new that even chiropractors aren't sure why their treatments seem to work so well. For this reason, they are doing more research and studies to understand the relationship between chiropractic and infertility.
Before we can even begin to appreciate how Chiropractors can help you get pregnant, we must first be clear on how conception comes about. Conception happens when the woman's egg is fertilized by a man's sperm. A woman's egg is produced when one of the follicles in her ovaries matures. The egg is released from the ovary, travels through the fallopian tubes and to the uterus. When a sperm cell from a fertile man swims up through the vagina and into the woman's uterus, joining with her egg, the outcome is pregnancy!
Now that we have a better understanding of the reproduction process, we can now appreciate that if any one of these processes is interrupted, infertility may result.
In summary, infertility may be caused by numerous factors:
• A woman's ovary does not produce an egg / it may produce a damaged egg
• The egg does not make it to the uterus
• A man's sperm is not fertile
• The sperm does not meet the egg
• Pressure on the fallopian tube does not allow the egg and/or sperm to reach the uterus
OK, so how can a Chiropractor help me fall pregnant?
Your uterus and ovaries are connected to your spinal cord via spinal nerves. In order for these organs to function as best as they possibly can, they need to receive constant stimulation from the nerves of the lower back. Misalignments in the spine (subluxations) may lead to pressure on these nerves and interfere with this communication network. This may affect the function of your uterus or ovaries and hence your ability to conceive. Since Chiropractors are the only health professionals qualified to identify and correct these subluxations, seeing a Chiropractor for infertility just makes sense!
It is important for you to know that 30% of infertility is due to problems with the woman and 30% due to the man. For this reason, I strongly encourage both partners to seek Chiropractic care.
